Coke snaps 8-game skid

Sophomore forward Larry Rodriguez tied a career-high 21 points as Coca-Cola snapped an eight-game losing skid with a 106-94 win over Burger King to stay in contention for the last wildcard berth in the KFC-PBA Philippine Cup Sunday night at the Araneta Coliseum.
The win improved the Tigers’ win-loss card to 2-11, now just half-game behind Barako Bull (2-10) in the race for playoff slots in the knockout wildcard phase of this all-Filipino tournament.
The Whoppers fell to 4-9.
Coke also got big contributions from other players with point guard Alex Cabagnot posting 18 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds while Asi Taulava had 12 points and 10 boards.
The Tigers jumped the gun and took an early 30-16 lead. They kept their lead in double digit until the Whoppers came within, 73-82.
In the second game, San Miguel Beer repeated its mastery over Purefoods, 87-80, to improve its record to 10-3. The loss ended Purefoods’ four-game winning run and slipped to 8-5. — Waylon Galvez
