Game Saturday (Ynares Sports Arena)
4 p.m. – RP Patriots vs KL Dragons

Playing without their top defensive players, the Philippine Patriots absorbed a crushing 95-70 defeat at the hands of the Brunei Barracudas in the 1st ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) Sunday at the Brunei Indoor Stadium.

American imports Mike Pilgrim and Reggie Larry along with Filipino reinforcements Leo Avenido, Don Camaso, and Kiko Adriano led a huge third quarter burst before the Barracudas completed the rout to hand the Patriots just their second loss in nine games.

Pilgrim, who described the win to the Brunei scribes as the "mother of all victories" and Larry led the squad of Filipino coach Bong Ramos with 20 points each with the latter registered eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals in 38 minutes of action.

Avenido, a former PBA cager, tallied 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Camaso likewise scored 18 points on five triples while Adriano added 13 as Brunei tied the KL Dragons, who beat the Thailand Tigers, 79-78, at 4-5.

Jason Dixon managed to record his fifth straight double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds but the absence of big men Nonoy Baclao and Elmer Espiritu hounded the team of coach Louie Alas.

Baclao didn't join the team's flight to Bandar Seri Begawan after helping Ateneo win the Philippine Collegiate Champions League title over Far Eastern University while Espiritu is nursing a broken cheek bone he suffered during last week's win over Satria Muda BritAma.

Dino Daa scored a season-high 10 points while Val Acuna, Jerwin Gaco and Rob Wainwright chipped in eight points each but the Patriots failed to preserve a 47-43 halftime lead after the Barracudas began the third period with a huge 13-0 blitz.

The scores:
BRUNEI 95 — Larry 20, Pilgrim 20, Avenido 18, Camaso 18, Adriano 13, Tan 6, Lim 0, Ho 0.
