The spokesperson of former President Joseph Estrada "Erap" on Wednesday expressed confidence that the disqualification cases filed against him by different individuals will eventually be dismissed for lack of merit.

During the Fernandina media forum at the Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City, Estrada’s spokesperson Margaux Salcedo said that despite the filing of at least three disqualification cases against the former chief executive, they are confident that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will readily dismiss all of these “because all are weak cases.”

She added that they do not want to speculate whether or not such filing of disqualification cases are the handiwork of their political rivals but she assured that their lawyers are ready to answer all charges hurled against Estrada.

“So far tatlo ang nag file sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) for his disqualification. Iyung isa nga ang sinasabi na nuisance candidate siya (Estrada). Pero for us, mahina ang mga iyun (disqualification cases” Salcedo claimed.

“We (also) don’t want to speculate whether or not this (filing of disqualification cases) were initiated by the other parties or political rivals but suffice to say, our lawyers are ready with our answer and we are confident that President Erap will be allowed by the Comelec to run,” she added.

Salcedo said that their answer to all petitions will be filed before the poll body Wednesday afternoon. “The answer to the three petitions to disqualify will be filed before the Comelec by our lawyers at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday),” she said.

Salcedo assured that Estrada is ready for a rigorous campaign trail as he is in good health as certified by his doctor. “OK naman ang health niya. He had his executive check-up two months ago at may clean bill of health siya for the campaign season,”
