Model-actor now film director Eric Quizon, 42, still hopes to find the love of his life.

He is even resolute in becoming a dad soon.

“Malapit na siguro,” he said at the press the launch of the movie, “Nobody, Nobody But Juan.”

Topbilled by his dad, multi-awarded veteran comedian Dolphy, the movie is directed by Quizon and it is one of the official entries to the 2009 Metro Manila Film entry.

Asked about the lucky person who will bear his child, Quizon merely laughed, admitting that he is still actually “searching.” He is in no hurry, he said, as he believes these things happen “at the right time.”

His love life being zilch at the moment, why is Quizon thinking of becoming a dad?

His quick reply: “Siguro masasabi ko na ‘yun na lang ang kulang sa akin, ‘yung maging tatay.”

Asked in jest if he’ll be willing to sire a child with the very much single Pokwang, one of the leads in “Nobody Nobody But Juan,” Quizon smiled and shot back, “Why not?”

Without being prompted, Quizon added: “I think she’s a beautiful person. Pokwang is a lovely human being. Ibang klase.”

He admitted to have enjoyed working with Pokwang as well as with his dad and his dad’s contemporaries Eddie Garcia and Gloria Romero.

“Ang gagaling nila. Natutuwa ako na nakatrabaho ko sila dito because they made the film look even better. Like when I give instructions… They always make it even better when they actually get to do it…napapaganda pa lalo because of them.”

Although he started out as an actor before becoming a director, Quezon likes wearing the second hat better.

“Ang pag-arte minsan hinahanap hanap ko ‘yan pero…it’s limited kasi…it limits your artistry minsan. Ang role mo lang is gampanan ang papel na binigay sa iyo, bigyan buhay ang character at yun na.

“But when you’re directing, you’lll give life to everything in the film…bawat role bibigyan mo ng saysay... bawat storya, ang bawat character ang bawat galaw ang bawat anggulo. So ang lahat n’yan pinakikialaman mo.

“Directing is a creative process that happens while you’re thinking it. Constant ‘yon kapag nagdidirek ka. It’s not just natsa-challenge ka sa ginagawa mo, eh. It’s more of naho-hone ‘yung craft mo na nabubuhayan ang isip mo. Ang maganda talaga nag-iisip ka. You’re trying to be creative [in that] you come up with a new approach to what you do.”
