The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Friday that it completed P65.719 billion worth of national roads and bridges nationwide from January to November this year.

In an accomplishment report released to media, the DPWH was able to construct a total of 6,186.473 kilometers of national roads and 54,945 lineal meters of bridges during the 11-month period in a bid to improve the country's transport system and living conditions in the countryside.

“The implementation of projects has also enhanced peace and order in conflict-affected areas through efficient transport and trade; strengthened national unity, family bonds and tourism; and facilitated the decongestion of traffic,” acting Public Works Secretary Victor Domingo said.

Domingo said his agency facilitated countryside growth by widening the reach of opportunity and progress with the completion of 70 farm-to-market road projects.

The same data from DPWH showed that four ongoing projects when finished by DPWH will enable the realization of the total target 76.694-kilometer farm-to-market road under the P90.911 million funds of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

“To improve the delivery of agricultural goods and services, about 692 kilometers of the target 1,313 kilometers farm-to-market road nationwide were completed under the Department of Agriculture funds worth P3.630 billion,” its report read.

Although delayed release of fund hampers the progress of project implementation, more projects are reportedly to be completed with the release of sub-allotment advice for farm to market road projects.
