BIR, BoC reshuffles improve performance
The reshuffling of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the accreditation of importers by the Bureau of Customs (BoC) are expected to ensure transparency and expand the tax base that would ultimately lead to higher revenue generation for the government.
Consumer and Oil Price Watch Chairman Raul T. Concepcion has commended the efforts of BIR Commissioner Joel Tan-Torres for reshuffling 57 officials for falling short of their revenue targets.
“We commend BIR Commissioner Joel Tan-Torres for this effort,” Concepcion said.
In addition, Concepcion is also working closely with BoC Commissioner Napoleon Morales in accrediting importers that are compliant with the requirement of a single VAT-TIN number.
The accreditation also ensures that their shipments are inspected by accredited preshipment inspection firms: SGS, Dun and Bradstreet and Kotekna.
