Justice for missing teener remains elusive
Justice is still out of reach for the family of an 18-year-old man, who was reported missing two weeks ago after visiting his girlfriend, as a Manila Police District official Saturday admitted that they are facing a blank wall in its investigation due to the lack of evidence to implicate the supposed abductor of the victim.
Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay, MPD director, said their probe on MPD Intelligence Unit member Police Officer 2 August Abiog, the stepfather of the victim's girlfriend and the alleged suspect in the case, has returned to step one since no one could tell whether or not the police officer did the crime.
“So far wala namang makakapagsabi na siya talaga ang gumawa ng masama dun sa nawawalang bata. Walang makapagpatunay kaya hindi natin siya masampahan ng kaso,” he said.
Supt. Alex Gutierrez chief of the MPD-District Special Unit, was earlier ordered by Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim to help Victor Eusebio, father of the missing Ron Michael Eusebio, fourth year high school student of Perpetual Help College and a resident of 2514 Vision St., Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Magtibay said several witnesses, including the victim’s reported girlfriend Shain Florido, the stepdaughter of PO2 Abiog, testified that the victim never appeared in their house contrary to the claim of Eusebio’s friend that he was last seen inside Florido’s house prior to his disappearance.
In her statement, Florido, claimed that on Dec. 4, she was at home with three classmates from Perpetual Help College from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the time Eusebio reportedly visited his girlfriend. The girlfriend’s statement was also corroborated by Helen Rose Munoz, Monica Dumdumaya, and Charlaine Mae Caranoo, who all said that they never saw the victim inside Florido’s house.
“We cannot file charges against PO2 Abiog because we don’t have enough evidence against them,” Magtibay added.
Reports said the victim was last seen by his father last Dec. 4 along with his friends Paulo Rojo, Edward Malaga, and a certain Shine on their way to the house of Eusebio’s girlfriend.
PO2 Abiog was reportedly against the relationship of Eusebio and Florido.
Initial reports disclosed that Eusebio went to the house of his girlfriend at 1370 A.H. Lacson St., Sampaloc, Manila at 8 p.m. Dec. 4, but the victim’s companions were not allowed entry at the said house.
