Manny Pacquiao punches way to more glories

Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao has earned three more honors with his inclusion on lists released recently by various media.

Manny was named by magazine giant Time as one of the “25 people who mattered” in 2009, while sports network ESPN listed him as one of the “Top 10 athletes of the year.”

Based on the global online poll conducted by greatestever.com, Manny ranks second among the world’s greatest boxers.

The boxing champ recently celebrated his 31st birthday at the KCC Events and Convention Center in General Santos City that was attended by his friends in showbiz, politics, and sports.
 
Marian might cook in Spain

“Darna” star Marian Rivera said that if his father is too busy to visit Manila because of his burgeoning restaurant business, then it’s up to her to visit him in Spain.

When she does, Marian said she may cook at his restaurant just for kicks.

“Hilig ko naman pong magluto, pero tingnan natin,” she said.

Her hunk beau Dingdong Dantes will most likely be one of the first to sample her cooking there since he plans to accompany her to Spain.

Mark Herras down with German measles

Mark Herras had lost weight due to a recent bout with German measles.

“One week akong walang kinakain. Wala [rin] akong tinatanggap na trabaho kasi ayokong makahawa,” he said.

He stayed at home for a week to recover.

“Hindi ako nagpa-hospital eh, medyo natakot na ko sa ospital eh so tiniis ko na lang,” he said.

Aiko’s ‘flowery’ b-day surprise

Actress-politician Aiko Melendez got a “flowery” birthday surprise from her boyfriend, Bulacan, Bulacan, Mayor Patrick Meneses.

“'Yong bahay namin pinuno niya ng bulaklak. Kinuntsaba niya 'yong mga kasambahay ko,” she beamed in an interview on “Startalk.”

She returned the sweet gesture by lauding him in her speech at her fundraising birthday concert for the benefit of the cancer patients at the Philippine General Hospital.

“Binigyan ako [ng Diyos] ng higit pa sa hinihiling ko---si Patrick 'yon,” she told the audience.

Asked if she is ready to be the “First Lady of Bulacan, Bulacan,” the Quezon City councilor replied:

“Kung siya’y handa nang maging First Gentleman ng Quezon City!”

Robin Padilla defends Bebe against ‘hypocrites’

Action star Robin Padilla defended for the nth time his brother Bebe Gandanghari from critics who chide him for his ‘transformation.’

“Tigilan na ang pagka-ipokrito. Kung tayo’y magpapaka-ipokrito walang mangyayari sa’tin,” he told “Startalk.”

He revealed that the director who was supposed to helm Bebe’s movie, backed out of the project because “hindi siya naniniwala sa karapatan niya [Bebe].”
