Adamson routs UE in UAAP volley tilt

Adamson needed just 49 minutes to beat University of the East, 25-7, 25-16, 25-12, Sunday to grab solo second in the 72nd UAAP women's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Sophomore Pau Soriano fired 15 points while veterans Angela Benting and Jill Gustillo contributed 14 and 11 points, respectively as the Lady Falcons secured their fourth win in five outings.

Idle and defending champion La Salle remains perfect in five games.

Mary Cristel Rosale had nine points but got little support from her teammates to absorb their fourth defeat in five games.

Earlier, Cherry May Vivas continued her fiery offensive prowess with 21 points as Far Eastern University beat National University, 25-17, 25-18, 22-25, 25-16, to tie Ateneo and University of Santo Tomas for a share of third place at 3-2.

Also contributing were Mary Rose Cabanag and Monique Tiangco with 17 and 16 points, apiece, as the Lady Tamaraws triumphed despite the absence of key player Shaira Gonzalez because of an injury.
