5.4-magnitude quake hits Luzon
VIGAN CITY — An earthquake with 5.4 magnitude rocked some provinces in Northern Luzon at about 3:59 early morning Tuesday.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the quake was situated at about 135 kilometers north east of Baguio City and 45 kilometers west North West of Ilagan, Isabela with a depth of 10 kilometers.
A report from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the quake was felt in the following places: Intensity 2 in Laoag and Tuguegarao Cities; Intensity 3 in Baguio City and Callao Caves in Cagayan; and Intensity 1 in Ilocos Sur.
Phivolcs reported that the center of the quake was located at 10 kilometers southwest of Tabuk, Kalinga.
“The earthquake was of tectonic origin,” Phivolcs said in a report.
