As hundreds of presidentiables, vice presidentiable and senatoriables for the May 10, 2010 elections were declared disqualified by the Comelec en banc, coupled with the denial of the applications of hundreds of groups to be accredited in the party-list system of representation, the first and second divisions of the Comelec are fully occupied hearing Verified Opposition to Comelec en banc Resolution No. 8713 and motions for reconsideration filed by groups who were adjudged not qualified to participate in the party-list elections.

The Comelec First Division composed of Presiding Commissioner Rene V. Sarmiento and Commissioners Armando C. Velasco and Gregorio Y. Larrazabal and the Second Division comprising of Presiding Commissioner Nicodemo T. Ferrer and Commissioners Lucenito N.Tagle and Elias R. Yusoph, are hearing more than 30 cases each daily in the hope of resolving the Verified Opposition as well as the motions for reconsideration early in January 2010.

Among the cases being heard are the motion for reconsideration filed by 1 Kapusong Pilipinong Entrepreneur (1 Kape Inc.) whose petition to be accredited under the party-list system of representation was earlier denied, the disqualification case against actor Richard Gomez who is running for congressman in the first district of Leyte, and the motion of Philippine Green Repubican Party asking the Comelec to allow its presidential, vice presidential and senatoriables to participate in the May 10, 2010 polls.
