Counterfeit Procter and Gamble and Speedo goods worth more than P8 million were seized recently by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in several warehouses and outlets during two separate raids in Pasay City and Manila, the NBI reported Saturday.

NBI agents carried out a search warrant on stalls DT-17 and FT -19; stalls AUG-27/29 and GUG 43/45 all inside New Divisoria Mall, Sto. Cristo Street, Binondo, Manila as well as inside the warehouses at No. 555 Camba Street, Binondo Manila; Unit 23 Dagupan Center, 1331 Dagupan Street, Tondo Manila; 1557 Tubera Street, Bambang, Sta. Cruz Manila; and 518 Delpan Street, Binondo Manila where they found at least 5,898 pieces of fake Procter and Gamble toiletry products last Nov. 23.

They also seized assorted pieces of Head and Shoulder, Pantene, Rejoice and Olay with Procter and Gamble Trademark inside First Link Container Yard located at North Harbor, Road 10, Vitas, Tondo, Manila, NBI Director Nestor Mantaring said.

He said the raid stemmed from a complaint of a certain Anthony Francis L. Manankil of Global Time Holdings Limited, who represents their client Procter and Gamble Philippines who told the bureau that fake Procter and Gamble products are being sold to the public and thus causing large revenue loss to the complainant.

Operatives of the NBI–Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) conducted surveillance on the stalls and confirmed the authenticity of the complaint. Armed with search warrants issued by Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 24 Judge Antonio Eugenio Jr., the NBI operatives conducted the raids on the sales outlets and warehouse in Manila.
