All efforts are being done on the search and rescue of the missing passengers of ferry Catalyn-B that sank in the waters off Limbones Island in Cavite three days ago, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

Lieutenant Commander Armand Balilo, PCG spokesman, said that Coast Guard vessels and planes were in the area to look for the remaining survivors of the sunken boat.

The Coast Guard website said that the rescue personnel are hopeful that they can find the survivors following the sinking of the wooden hulled Catalyn-B.

Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo, Coast Guard commander, said that the search area has been extended up to twenty nautical miles radius from where the Catalyn-B sank at 2:25 a.m. last Thursday.
The Coast Guard Command Center said there were no sign of passengers floating at the site as of Saturday afternoon.

Two Coast Guard ships, BRP Pampanga (SAR 003) and BRP Nueva Vizcaya (SAR 3502) with additional rescue personnel on board, were dispatched to the area to continue the rescue operation.

Two Coast Guard Islander planes also joined the operations, the Coast Guard reported.

As of 2 p.m. yesterday, the number of rescued remained at 46 with 24 still missing.

The number of bodies recovered is still three, according to the latest report released by the PCG Public Information Office (PIO).

The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary deep sea divers have joined the operations to locate the vessel and look for survivors.
