Grenade rocks Rep. Dilangalen's home in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY (December 28, 2009) - Unidentified men on Sunday lobbed and exploded a  hand grenade at the residential home of Maguindanao Rep. Didagen Dilangalen here shortly  about 6 p.m. Sunday but no one was reported injured in the explosion.
 
The explosion  created a three-foot-wide hole along the fences surrounding Dilangalen's residence in Shariff Kabunsuan district, Barangay Rosary Heights 3, Cotabato City, sources from Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) said.
 
SOCO operatives were still investigating to determine the make of the explosives and it was not known whether or not Rep. Dilangalen was in his home during the blast.
 
Quoting witnesses, police said the blast could have been caused by a hand grenade thrown from outside.
 
Small sari-sari stores in front of Dilangalen's residence were also damaged, SOCO  reported.
 
SOCO said  a witnessed  confided them  that "It was a very loud explosion, the ground trembled and shortly before the explosion, a motorcycle, with two men aboard, was seen speeding away.”
 
No one has claimed responsibility on the incident.
 
Police could not say whether the blast was election-related since Dilangalen is seeking reelection while his wife is running for mayor of the city.
