Eagle Riggs soon back on ABS-CBN?
In all likelihood, showbiz anchor Eagle Riggs will return to ABS-CBN in 2010.
According to the grapevine, the veteran showbiz reporter, who started his career in ABS-CBN but had moved on to become among the regulars in GMA 7's early morning show, "Unang Hirit," is planning to move out of the Kapuso network.
Eagle has not renewed his contract with the network after the station, reportedly refused to hike his salary.
A source told Manila Bulletin Entertainment Online that Eagle has already met with a female executive of rival station ABS-CBN who showed willingness to bring him back to the fold.
In their conversation, the female TV exec reportedly asked Eagle what show he would want to be part of.
Rattling the titles of a number of shows, the executive told Eagle to take it easy. "Isa-isa lang muna,” he was told.
Wenn Deramas, a well-entrenched and powerful TV and film director is said to be also among those helping Eagle. It is presumed that he will help manage the entertainment anchor’s career.
He will most likely cast Eagle in "Kokey," one of the new shows to premiere in ABS-CBN in 2010.
Eagle allegedly wants to join the cast of "Umagang Kay Ganda," the direct rival of GMA’s "Unang Hirit." However, Wenn went against it and said that he should try acting first. He also reasoned that it will be in bad taste if he [Eagle] joins ABS-CBN's morning show.
Eagle and Wenn’s friendship dates back during their "Teysi ng Tahanan" days. On that pre-noontime show, Wenn directed the segment "Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang" while Eagle co-hosted with veteran comedian-host Tessie Tomas.
