Could it be that Songbird Regine Velasquez doesn't want to be part of "SOP" anymore?

The singer, who had been conspicuously absent on the Sunday musical variety program lately, allegedly wants to resign from the show, leaving her co-hosts---including boyfriend Ogie Alcasid, Queen of Soul Jaya, and Janno Gibbs---to carry on.

A source said that Regine's reason is so she could have more time with her family.

The Songbird’s most recent performance was on GMA's Christmas TV special, "After The Rain," which had her performing a plethora of songs. Regine was in her best vocal element then, although some noted a bit of strain in her singing.

“SOP” or no “SOP,” however, Regine will remain a Kapuso star. She is set to appear on two GMA-7 shows including “Darna” where she will play the role of Elektra, and as a singer on the newest Kapuso soap, "Diva."

It is recalled that Regine was rumored to be transferring to ABS-CBN in 2008. In one “SOP” episode, the show's hosts were even shown crying profusely as Regine sang Whitney Houston’s "Try It On My Own."

During a presscon tendered by ABS-CBN for Regine’s "Maalaala Mo Kaya" episode, the Songbird hinted on her transfer to the Kapamilya network.

It is said that Regine only stayed on with GMA-7 that time after plans for her transfer were scuttled.
