Heart Evangelista caps successful year with MMFF win
Heart Evangelista is on a roll.
After bagging the FAMAS Best Actress plum early this year for her role in the film “Ay Ayeng,” she clinched another achievement last Dec. 28: the Best Supporting Actress trophy at the 35th Metro Manila Film Festival Awards (MMFF) for her role in “Mano Po 6: A Mother’s Love.”
Evangelista expressed happiness over her triumph via Twitter: “Thanks to all of you!!! We did it!! God bless you all!”
The actress compared the feeling of winning the award to being “On Cloud 9.”
“I can't sleep! I'm so happy!”
No doubt it has been a victorious year for Evangelista who clawed her way back into relevancy after having almost been written off by many people in 2008.
“When I got the role for ‘Ay, Ayeng’ last year, I really had nothing…like I was starting all over again,” she said in a previous interview. “That mindset helped me push more…give more and it showed in my performance.”
Many credit manager Annabelle Rama for reining in the actress, who was already seemingly carving a reputation for being “difficult,” specifically with her inability to separate professional and personal aspects of her life.
Evangelista attributed her recent successes to getting her groove back.
“When you’re in love, it’s like you’re being dumb,” she once said in recalling those troublesome days.
“But that’s over now, it’s ‘Heart time.’ Nowadays, I‘m all about my career, my family.”
Evangelista’s new found eagerness for work not only gained for her award-winning film roles, it also paved the way for her to land plump TV roles.
Apart from hosting her very own fashion show in “Fashionistas by Heart” on QTV, she was picked to topbill the highly-successful TV adaptation of “Ngayon at Kailanman.”
She is now busy working on GMA-7’s “Full House” with Richard Gutierrez.
“I feel so lucky…so blessed,” she quipped.
And what does Evangelista wish for this New Year? Happiness.
"And balance…contentment in all aspects of my life, in all areas."
Is she aiming to “complete and balance” it all by finding new love?
“No, I am not in a hurry. Right now, to be honest, I get that ‘choking’ feeling just thinking of being in a relationship.”
Was her failed relationship with actor Jericho Rosales that traumatic for her to consider being single for the time being?
Evangelista did not deny the impression.
“But it’s a good kind of trauma…it made me understand life and love even better.”
