Of life and ice cream

Thanks to the female dominated, romantic, and sometimes sappy full length films that we call chick flicks, eating a tub of ice cream has become synonymous with break ups. A trite moment where a girl sits in front of the TV, devouring her favorite ice cream as she cries her eyes out. But ice cream isn’t a mere pick-me-up food you grab when you’re depressed. Eating it is supposed to be festive, tugs at the heart, and an inspiration to the senses.
Recently, during the opening of Häaggen-Dazs (HD) at the Midtown Wing of Robinsons Place Ermita, the people behind the international ice cream brand staged a three-act show that gave the audience a glimpse on what ice creams are all about.
Headlined by three different women living in the same building, the skit was about searching for what’s real and immersing one’s self in what makes them feel best– a slow-melting tub of Häaggen-Dazs ice cream.
Known for their hand-crafted ice cream that boasts of rich textures and extraordinary flavors made from pure dairy cream and milk, blended with a minimum amount of air, HD is an excellent companion, if not an indulgent excuse, for celebrating victories or to simply invite inspiration.
During the event, United States Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney was eager to admit her ice cream obsession.
“I love ice cream it’s one of my favorite things to eat. I have it when I’m happy, when I’m stressed, and even on a regular lazy Sunday,” Ambassador Kenny mused. “One of my great favorites is HD’s Macadamia Nut, which as you know came straight from Hawaii, so whenever I feel a little homesick from my vacations I go to HD for a little Macadamia Nut ice cream.”
So the next time you feel like wallowing on a break up over ice cream and old movies, or you simply want to enjoy the little pleasures of a lovely day, why not try these frozen confections? It’s worth it.
