Warring actresses Cristine Reyes and Heart Evangelista have buried the hatchet in time for the New Year.

It is recalled that Cristine and Heart reportedly avoided each other during the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival Awards night at the SMX Center. Observers noted that the two did not greet each other onstage even though they were just a few meters apart.

Cristine was a female presenter in the best supporting actor and actress categories the second of which Heart won that night.

“Hindi kami nag-iwasan. Ang nangyari kasi noon, sobra kasing dami ng nagpa-picture so wala kaming chance na magkasalubong,” Cristine explained on “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Dec. 31.

Did she purposely avoid reading out Heart's name as best actress winner?

“Si Geoff (Eigenmann) ang nagbasa (ng name niya). Siyempre, dapat siya ang magbasa sa female winner, ako ang babasa sa lalaki,” said she.

Cristine reiterated that her rift with Heart is over.

“Sinabi ko nga noong una na if ever na makasalubong ko siya, ako ang unang babati sa kanya.”

At the MMFF Awards night, Cristine was escorted by a handsome guy whom she identified as her cousin. She claimed to have not had a blue Christmas not because of her date, but due to fever.

“Ay naku, sobrang init ng Pasko ko kasi inaapoy ako sa lagnat. Trust me, I'm single,” she said.

In the same SNN episode, Heart bolstered Cristine’s claim that they’ve bid their spat sayonara.

“Wala na, finish na 'yon,” she said.

She denied that she did not show up in the Parade of Stars to avoid Cristine.

“Kasi nagtaping kami ng ‘Full House.’ It was very hard so natulog na lang ako.”
