Bucor workers see signing of pay deal
Employees of the Bureau of Corrections (Bucor) and their families are hopeful that the agreement to pay them regarding the construction of a road project in the New Bilibid Prison Reservation in Muntinlupa will be signed this January.
This after the planned signing of the agreement did not push through last December.
The Daang Hari-South Luzon Expressway Road Link, or the Daang Hari C-6 Toll Road Project, is a P1.3 billion 4-km road that will connect Muntinlupa and Daang Hari road in Cavite. It is a project of the Alabang-Sto. Tomas Development Inc. and the National Development Company.
There are about 82 families living in the Magdaong and Makabuhay areas of NBP that will be affected by the construction.
In a meeting last year called by Mayor Aldrin San Pedro, a new settlement was reached that would give the families twice the amount of compensation and a guarantee of relocation site.
In exchange for the benefits, the families agreed to leave their homes once the agreement is signed and as soon as they receive the compensation.
San Pedro told the Manila Bulletin Sunday that he is assuring Bucor employees and their families that the agreement will be signed this month. He said the families should be compensated fairly since they will be dislocated by the road project.
The families earlier thanked the mayor for helping them get a better deal regarding the compensation.
The Daang Hari C-6 Toll Road Project will be constructed under a build-operate-transfer scheme and is a part of the Cavite-Laguna East-West National Road Project of the government.
