Urdaneta folk thank councilor
The people of Urdaneta City Tuesday expressed their appreciation to Councilor Amadeo Gregorio Perez IV who has accepted their clamor for him to run as mayor of the city in the forthcoming elections.
“Bobom,” as he is known to Urdaneta residents, started his political career as barangay captain of Barangay San Vicente and became president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) here.
He was elected No.1 city councilor in the 2007 elections and has received various awards due to his numerous programs and accomplishments.
Bobom said he wants to succeed his father, Mayor Amadeo Perez, Jr., whose term of office as local executive will expire on June 30, 2010 and continue to service the people of Urdaneta.
The young Perez also wants to continue what his father has started, particularly the Urdaneta City Skills and Training Center which has benefitted many residents, especially the youth.
“My father started this project which has benefitted many people, with graduates who are now working, thus minimizing unemployment in the city,” Bobom said.
He pointed that even out-of-school youths are being encouraged to take short courses which give them jobs.
Bobom has gained the trust and confidence of his constituents, including political leaders, as three vice mayors and 17 councilors-candidates are supporting him as their mayoral bet this coming elections.
Bobom has also been endorsed by various groups such as the ABC, tricycle operators and drivers, government and private employees, farmers and agri workers, housewives and students in the city.
