Reactions over Amalia Fuentes’ recent remarks regarding her daughter are undoubtedly mixed.

Although there are some who thought it rational for the veteran movie actress to reprimand her daughter on air or otherwise, there are others who think she may have been too harsh, considering how Liezel is still battling cancer.

It is recalled that Fuentes appeared on the GMA 7 entertainment talk show “Showbiz Central” on Dec. 27 to denounce what she believes were “unfair” comments made by daughter Liezel in a previous interview with Kris Aquino regarding her much-speculated bout with the Big C.

Fuentes was hurting that Liezel did not thank her.

She divulged having spent 200,000 pesos for her daughter’s treatment inasmuch as she assailed her son-in-law, actor Albert Martinez for being over-reliant on her financially and for not being able to provide for his wife’s needs.

The actress also ranted on Liezel’s friends having supposedly “influenced” her daughter to have breast augmentation, which she is now blaming also for her daughter’s current predicament.

While most of those involved in the matter are now keeping mum on the topic, including the Martinez family and Fuentes herself, fans aren’t as keen to let go of the issue.

A posting of the interview on Youtube allowed for numerous comments from net-adroit kibitzers.

“Kulang ng attensiyon si Amalia galing sa anak. Ang anak in return should give her that attention.”

“Whatever happens between them, please stop this issues cuz it affects the whole family. Both parties are in pain.”

“We know how much you love your daughter but you don’t need to tell the whole world what was happening between you and her. Pinahiya mo sa buong mundo sarili mong anak. Sana sinolo ninyo na lang kung ano man yan…”

“I just feel SO LUCKY at hindi ako anak ng isang AMALIA FUENTES!!!!!”

“Grabe naman! Malas ni Liezl to have her as a MOTHER! la kwenta! May cancer na nga ung anak, hiniya pa on national TV!!!!”

“True love is giving and supporting without expecting anything in return.”

“As a mother I understand her, but she does not need to tell everything and humiliate her only daughter suffering with cancer in public... Well hopefully this will be an eye-opener for the public. There is a lesson to learn here [for both] parent and child.... “

“Pasaway palang anak si Liezl, kawawa naman ang nanay.”

“It's too bad how their relationship is going. They need to patch up things by themselves. Life is too short. Albert should start to move and encourage his wife [to] patch things with her mom before it's too late.”

“U show off ur 200 thousand…it is u who gave it to her u don't need to know where that money goes. And u don't need anything in return if ur truly a good mother...the money went to medicinal purposes.”

“Greedy for fame plain and simple...”

“Why can't you just be a mother to your daughter? I can see why Liezl is treating you like that. I would do the same thing. The best thing you can do...SHUT UPPPPP!!!!!!

“The mother and daughter should unite. Let's leave them alone to work things out for peace, please.”

“Amalia, if I were your daughter, I would have begged an early death. And if Kris Aquino were your daughter, you would have probably committed suicide a long time ago!”

“To Amalia Fuentes, from Kahlil Gibran (well-known Lebanese poet). Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you, yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts, for they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls."

“To Amalia Fuentes: You seem to be a God-fearing woman, therefore, it was not necessary to allow yourself to be used by these media people to further cause your daughter pain and sufferings. So what if people misjudge you? So what if you feel that your daughter does not appreciate you? God sees everything. If you think you're misunderstood, remember this quote: 'Never explain. Your friends do not need it, and your enemies will not believe you anyway.'"

“Amalia Fuentes my dear, forgive and forget??? how about u, have you forgiven and forgotten. I dont think sooo. Ur bringing back history, ur saying things that r private: ‘the breast augmentation’ it's not for u to tell..."

“This woman is not worth listening...she's no use...And I am thankful she only have Liezel who actually turned out to be really well, so different from who Amalia is...”

“Ang sakit talaga nang sinabi ni Liezl na she owes her life to Pops, si Pops ba ang nag-alaga sa kanya? Well Liezl owes her life to God, taking care lang tayong mga parents.”

“When Liezl said she owes her life to Pops, she could have only meant at this instance only na na-discover na may breast cancer siya, that thru Pops' nagging, napilitan siyang magpa-exam. Not necessarily all her life.”

And what does Pops Fernandez has to say about this?

"Whatever Tita Nena [Amalia] said on ‘Showbiz Central,’ hindi ko na lang 'yon sasagutin because I have high respect for her and her daughter. Hindi naman maganda na sasagot pa ako because Liezel has been a good friend of mine for such a long time, and Tita Nena has been a friend of our family as well. Kaya I can't say anything that will hurt them both. It's better that I'm just quiet about it and just let it pass."
