A veteran broadcaster, commentator and columnist Wednesday joined the Senate slate of Philippine Green Republican Party (PGRP), vowing that if elected he would work for the enactment of legislation to strengthen press freedom, provide more protection to journalists, promote their general welfare and interest, and prevent another Maguindanao massacre, including the killing of 30 journalists.

Pol Bulilan is national chairman and founding president of Democracy in Action Family Club which reportedly has more than a million card-bearing members nationwide. He was a radio commentator of DYRB and SBNTV for more than 15 years and now a columnist for Hataw, Newsmakers and Pampango publications.

Various political parties invited him to join their Senate slates, but he chose the PGRP headed by Felix C. Cantal because of its strong advocacy for the abolition of poverty and equal opportunity for economic advancement.

PGRP was registered with the Comelec as a political party on Jan. 22, 2004 and was allowed to field candidates in the May 11, 2004 and May 14, 2007 elections.
