CAMP RUPERTO K. KANGLEON, Palo, Leyte — The Philippine National Police in Eastern Visayas has destroyed more than 100,000 confiscated illegal firecrackers here, the new PNP-8 Regional Director told reporters Wednesday.

P/Chief Superintendent Rey Lañada, PNP-8 Regional Director, told reporters his office has ordered the destruction of the confiscated banned firecrackers from vendors all over the region. He added that the firecrackers were destroyed by submerging most of the materials in water starting last Monday at the special training unit within the PNP-8 camp. Destruction procedures were completed the following day.

Lañada said the illegal firecrackers were confiscated recently from vendors all over the region in a series of operations during the holiday season.
