PCG man shot dead in Malabon
A member of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) was shot and killed by a man who used the victim’s own firearm following a heated argument in Malabon City the other day.
The fatality was identified as Pedro Mangubat, 46, a resident of Navotas Fish Port Compound. He suffered a bullet wound in the head and died on the spot.
The suspect, identified as a certain "Bebot" from Paradise Village, Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon City, escaped with the victim's gun and is now being hunted by police.
Initial investigation conducted by PO2 Rommel Habig, officer-on-case said the victim went to the relative of his alleged live-in partner Gemma Orsal at Paradise Villabe at about 1:30 p.m. to demand the payment of her unpaid electric bill.
While Mangubat was waiting for Orsal, the suspect allegedly arrived and as saw him talking with his girlfriend, Bebot allegedly confronted Mangubat.
Mangubat allegedly left but the suspect, along with two still unidentified companions, followed him and started attacking him.
Mangubat went to his motorcycle to get his firearm but Bebot allegedly managed to grab his gun and used it to shoot him.
