Sinulog Sound Series: Kjwan, Greyhoundz & tons of OPM!
Cebu’s Sinulog festival is one of the grandest and most colorful festivals in the Philippines with a very rich history. The festival features some the country’s most colorful displays of pomp and pageantry: Participants garbed in bright-colored costumes dance to the rhythm of drums, trumpets, and native gongs. The sea of people, the addicting beats, the humid air, the sticky feel of sweat and the extreme excitement of spectators during the daytime parade give way for evening festivities which are bound to rock Sinulog fans.
I’m talking about the concert spectacular which will rock the Queen City of the South with an impressive roster of OPM bands – The Sinulog Sound Series! The nation’s top rockers will join Cebu’s best for four consecutive nights in musical celebration. All of the concerts of the Sinulog Sound Series will also feature Manila DJs on the turntables as well as other activities like prize giveaways, games, henna tattooing, wall-climbing and more!
The Sinulog Sound Series Kicks of on Jan. 14 as Fastpitch and The Ambassadors heat up the Mango Square Mall Back Parking Area at 6 p.m. Joining them are The Line Divides, Happy Days, Lowela, Campbell, Rescue A Hero, Autoplay, Sefyla, Sugbuwanon, and The Butterfly Project.
Jan. 15 marks Day 2 of the festivities as the Greyhoundz takeover the Soundlounge (at the back of Bo’s Capitol) starting at 8 p.m. Other bands performing that night include: Gasulina, Acidburn, Ribcage, No Plan, Muskats, False Graveyard, M.R.P.D., Pointblank, Persona, Undercover and the Grasshoppers.
The third day of the Sinulog Sound Series happens on Jan. 16 with Gloc9 and Intolerant setting the stage at the Mango Square Mall Back Parking Area. The concert begins at 6 p.m. with other performers by the likes of The Pull It Surprise, The Lower Class, Dance With Me Kris, Burning Culture, Incoherent, Nibiru, Nyor and Detached. Plus party-goers can also witness “Cage Conflict: A Grudge Battle of the Champions” where the Philippines’ top mixed martial artists will battle it out!
Jan. 17 will be the fourth and final day of the Sinulog Sound Series. From 6 p.m. onwards, the Greyhoundz and Kjwan will headline at the Mango Square Mall Back Parking Area. They’ll be rockin’ with other bands like Powerspoonz, PG18, Docudrama, Cattski, Twinkle Dudu, Melophobic, Pointblank, God Save Me and Skankin’ Brews.

The Killers finish off January
After releasing their special Christmas song “Happy Birthday Guadalupe” and single “Hotel California,” the Philippines is stoked to hear both the classics like “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me” played alongside their newer hits like “Human” and “Romeo and Juliet.”
Filipino teens are also psyched to hear The Killers perform their latest single “A White Demon Love Song” which is part of the original soundtrack of “New Moon,” sequel to the Twilight Saga. It will be a night to remember as Manila comes to life one final time for January 2010 as The Killers take the stage on Jan. 31, 2010 at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds!
For this major event, two of the biggest names in the events industry converge to bring music lovers and another rocking experience. World Wide Womb (spearheaded by party-meister Stephen Ku) and Saga Events (the brainchild of fashion director Robby Carmona) are the twin forces behind The Killers landing on Philippine shores.
Tickets for The Killers Concert are available via the World Wide Womb, Saga Events as well as at all Ticket World and Ticketnet outlets.
