Malacañang remains unfazed over the latest presidential survey showing that administration bet Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro’s low rating, saying that there is still time for the public to realize Teodoro’s worth as the next Philippine president.

“We maintain that we still have much time left until the next election,” Deputy presidential spokesperson Gary Olivar said over radio.

He said the Palace remains confident that more people will realize why the Lakas-Kampi-CMD bet should become the next president before the May elections, stressing that it is evident in his clean political record platform, character and talent.

“We have confidence that over that period of time, maiintindihan, matatanggap at mauunawaan ng parami ng parami sa ating mga kababayan [more people will understand and accept why Teodoro should be the next president],” Olivar said.

A Social Weather Stations (SWS) Special December 2009 Survey conducted from Dec. 27 to 28 revealed that Teodoro remained fourth in the presidential survey, with his rating unmoved from the Dec. 5 to 10 survey at five percent.

The latest survey showed that Sen.Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III led the poll survey at 44 percent, followed closely by Sen. Manny Villar at 33 percent, and former president Joseph “Erap” Estrada at 15 percent.

It will be recalled that Cabinet Secretary Silvestre Bello III, in an earlier radio interview, said that Teodoro can still surge in poll ratings with his show of sincerity and good performance in public office while Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said that Teodoro will be able to make it in the 2010 elections with the right strategy, which is to make his presence felt, particularly in the regions.
