Two presidential aspirants who were earlier disqualified might still be included in the final list of candidates for national posts that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expected to release this Thursday.

“I think two might be included,” Comelec Commissioner Rene Sarmiento told reporters in an interview.

It would be recalled that in the initial list of the Comelec released last December 15, only eight individuals for president, eight for vice president and 58 for senator made it in the list. But Sarmiento refused to name the two presidential aspirants.

“I would not say. Let’s just wait,’’ he said.

Aside from president, Sarmiento said the number of senatorial candidates might also increase.

He said the said individuals were able to make in the list because they were able to prove to the poll body that they have a political party and that they can wage a political campaign.

On Friday, the Comelec is also expected to release the list for party-list. “We will promulgate the party-list on Friday,” said Sarmiento.
