OWWA: Unlucky welder, family need counseling
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Wednesday said the overseas Filipino worker Jason Aguilar, who was mistaken as a murder suspect in an International Police watchlist and deported from Qatar, will undergo counseling.
OWWA Administrator Carmelita Dimzon said Aguilar, who was mistaken by Qatar police as Jason Aguilar Ivler, suffered a traumatic experience during his arrest and confinement at the jail.
Jason Aguilar Ivler’s name was placed in the Interpol Red Notice as the suspect in the killing of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr., the son of Undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr., who works in the Office of the Presidential Chief of Staff.
Dimzon said Aguilar and his family will, especially his mother, needs to undergo psychological counseling, at their hometown in Bulacan or at the OWWA Shelter House in Pasay City.
She said that Jason no longer plans to work overseas because of his experience during his arrest.
The OWWA also offered to help Aguilar finance his own welding business in his hometown.
Dimzon said OWWA still has to determine the amount of the loan that Aguilar could get from them or through the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) which will be based on a plan of business he would submit.
She said that Aguilar arrived at OWWA office last Tuesday afternoon accompanied by senatorial candidate Susan Ople because they still have to go to the Department of Justice (DoJ) to clear his name with the Bureau of Immigration and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The OWWA said the clearance is needed to pave the way for him to go back to work overseas in the future.
Aguilar was arrested last December 31 in Doha, Qatar.
