Fans of TV host-actress Kris Aquino have lambasted actor John Lloyd Cruz for refusing to play the young Ninoy Aquino in a two-part special episode of "Maalaala Mo Kaya," which delves into the love story of Kris' parents, Ninoy and Corazon Aquino.

Kris revealed how John Lloyd, who was picked no less than by the drama anthology’s host, Charo Santos, decided to back out because citing aversion to any political affiliation.

Heartthrob Piolo Pascual eventually got the part which delighted Kris' sisters who all are big Piolo fans. Playing Cory Aquino in the drama anthology is Bea Alonzo.  

Although hurt by Lloydy's refusal to do the role, Kris insists she is not mad at the actor.

According to Kris, she and her sisters understand the actor's reason and even joked about it, creating theories on why he decided to pass up on the role.

Kris said they speculated in jest that it might be because Liz Uy, Lloydy's former girlfriend, is now the stylist of Kris and Noynoy Aquino. 

Still, supporters of the TV host posted shoutouts against John Lloyd in Kris' Yahoo group.

"A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, slipped-away. HISTORY 'yan Loydie, ano ka ba? Just because Noynoy is running for prez, umayaw ka na? I thought, you're an actor, politics should take a backseat! Or, you're one of those na walang paki-alam? Hey, grow-up!" wrote one fan.

"Now, don't expect the AQUINO's to be rooting for you still, if gawing movie na 'yan! Kay GERALD ANDERSON na lang ako as a "young Ninoy".... Aga M. or Cesar M. as a middle-aged Ninoy @ 50 y/o!" wrote another supporter.

"You don't want any political affiliation? I'm very SAD to hear and to know that! Mag-ABROAD ka na lang, you don't LOVE your country that much! All of us should make a STAND for a better Philippines - and that includes, being INVOLVED in choosing our own LEADERS, especially, the next Filipino to lead us for the next SIX YEARS!" wrote yet another irate fan.
