IMUS, Cavite — At least six towns and one city in Cavite were placed in the watch list of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Commission on Elections (Comelec) following reports of either political threats or hostilities in the seven areas.

Lawyer Juanito V. Ravanzo Jr., provincial Comelec supervisor, said the seven areas were in the list he received from the Cavite Police Provincial Office (CPPO).

CPPO officials said that they are closely monitoring the political activities and other concerns in the province’s 19 towns and three cities with their intelligence network and help of the citizenry.

Sr. Insp. Primitivo T. Tabujara Jr., a regional intelligence chief, replaced Sr. Supt. Alfred S. Corpuz as CPPO director last Monday to intensify the drive against private armed groups (PAGs), loose firearms, crimes and other concerns in the province.

Ravanzo identified those in the CPPO watch list as Trece Martires City, the provincial capitol site, and the towns of Alfonso, Tanza, Amadeo, all in upland district, and Bacoor, the newly-reconstituted lone district in the lowland area of the province.

The election official claimed that he could not remember the two other areas which are in the watch list. “I cannot remember the others, it’s all seven,” he said.

Ravanzo said that the term watch list is now being used by the PNP and Comelec instead of hotspots.
