OPM legend Freddie Aguilar’s nephew, Jason Aguilar Ivler, has finally been caught.

Ivler, son of Aguilar’s sister Marlene Aguilar Pollard, hid for several months prior to being caught in his mother’s QC home early Jan. 18.

Ivler is a suspect in the killing of the son and namesake of Malacañang official, Renato Ebarle.

According to officials, Ivler was wounded during the arrest conducted by joint operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police.

Chief Superintendent Elmo San Diego, Quezon City police district chief, said Ivler resisted arrest and fired at the operatives prompting a shoot-out.

Ivler sustained gunshot wounds in the stomach, chest, shoulder, and leg. He is now being treated at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center.

San Diego said that two NBI agents—Anna Labao and Angelito Magno—were also wounded in the gun fight.

San Diego said the suspect’s mother will be facing charges of obstruction of justice, coddling, and providing asylum to a criminal.

Ebarle, in an interview over the radio, expressed gratitude for the arrest, which happened 60 days after his son was killed.

“This person has caused trouble to a lot of people,” he said in Filipino, adding that the authorities should issue a hold departure order on Ivler.

Quoting a witness who saw the shooting, Ebarle said Ivler shot and killed his only son after failing to overtake his son’s vehicle because a taxi cab blocked his way.

“He blocked my son’s vehicle and shot him three times. There was no argument at all,” he said, quoting a witness.
