Xmas bonuses of Pampanga Capitol employees held
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Almost a month after Christmas Day, employees of the Pampanga Provincial Capitol have yet to receive their P20,000 bonus each as approval of its release remains pending at the office of Gov. Ed Panlilio.
This was learned Monday after members of the Pampanga Capitol Employees’ Union sought the help of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members of the province for the release of their
P20,000 Christmas bonuses that up to now are still pending in the office of Gov. Eddie Panlilio.
The union also asked for the assistance of the board members to stop the “unfair and undue” transfer of some of the provincial government employees to other offices without consulting them and without the knowledge of their heads.
Remigio Capuchino said they were saddened by the fact that until now, the P20,000 bonuses of the capitol employees have not yet been released.
“Some of the employees have been waiting for their bonuses to pay for their debts and to support their children’s education, yet it is almost one month but the P20,000 bonuses have not yet been released,” Capuchino decried.
Members of the SP approved the P20,000 across-the-board Christmas bonuses to all employees of the provincial government offices but Governor Eddie “Among Ed” Panlilio opposed it.
Panlilio wanted that only P10,000 would be given to all employees, while another P10,000 would be released to employees who performed well during the year based on the evaluation conducted by the provincial government.
“It’s unfair to those who performed well if everyone would be given the same amount,” the priest-turned-governor said.
The governor further said that in 2008, the employees agreed that an evaluation would be conducted to identify who have done their jobs well.
“What we are giving the employees came from the taxes of the people, and it is but due to spend their money wisely,” he said.
