Christian Bautista has no prob with Jed Madela
Balladeer Christian Bautista denied requesting for a change of dressing room so he could stop sharing his current one with champion singer Jed Madela.
“Hindi po 'yan totoo. Ako po ay masayang-masaya sa dressing room namin sa ‘ASAP.’ Mas masaya nga 'yong madami kami...” said he in an interview aired on “Umagang Kay Ganda,” Jan. 20.
The singer downplayed talks that Jed may be envious of the success of his latest album, “Romance Revisited: The Love Songs of Jose Mari Chan,” which has been number one in the local charts for several weeks now.
People say that if the trend continues, Christian may well duplicate the success of Jed’s “Songs Rediscovered 2: The Ultimate OPM Playlists" CD which was named number one OPM album of 2009.
By then, there would be a battle between the two for the title King of Universal Records since both are talents of the label.
“Magkaibigan kami ni Jed,” Christian emphasized. “Natutuwa ako na pagdating ko [sa Universal] ay siya mismo ang nag-welcome at nagpasalamat sa akin.”
It is recalled that Christian Bautista was one of the prized talents of Warner Music Philippines prior to his transfer to Universal Records last year. Though many scoffed at his move, considering that it was Warner Music that built up Christian’s recording career from scratch, the balladeer was able to vindicate himself with the success of “Romance Revisited.”
Despite these talks, Christian remains unaffected. He said that his main concern nowadays is to promote his album not only in the country but in Indonesia and Malaysia where he already has a foothold thanks to his previous songs.
Making it in those two countries is important to me because not everyone is given the chance to do so. Besides, I not only go there to promote my music but the Philippines, too, he said.
Christian recently shot the video for his latest single, “Beautiful Girl,” along with actresses Anne Curtis and Angel Locsin. He also recorded and shot another video for the song “Please Be Careful With My Heart” with Indonesian star Citra Bunga. The second video reportedly cost almost a million pesos.
On the other hand, Jed Madella and Universal Records are already planning his follow-up to “Songs Rediscovered 2: The Ultimate OPM Playlists." Jed’s new album will be out by March.
