Leyte releases P10-M aid for infra projects
TACLOBAN CITY – Nearly P10 million in financial assistance was recently downloaded by the provincial government of Leyte to three towns and several villages to speed up their various infrastructure development projects.
The financial assistance went to the towns of Burauen, Alangalang and Sta. Fe while the rest were to a number of villages of Burauen and Pastrana towns in Leyte’s second district.
The ongoing New Public Market rehabilitation in Burauen town was given P3 million as counterpart fund for the multi-million-peso market infrastructure, which is a priority project of Mayor Fe Renomeron.
The lady mayor said the rehabilitation of the public market will upgrade the facility making it more presentable and likewise will accommodate additional locators.
This will also complement the completion of the ongoing Burauen-Albuera Road opening that would connect Leyte’s second biggest town to Ormoc City.
Once the road would be finally opened to traffic, more business and economic activities are expected in Burauen town.
Second to get financial support from the province is the Sta. Fe’s farm-to-market road project under the Infrastructure for Rural Productivity Enhancement Sector (InFRES) program of the Department of Agriculture (DA), which was given P2 million financial assistance from the provincial government of Leyte.
InFRES project is intended to remove constraints to agricultural productivity by investing in rural infrastructure in regions with high poverty incidence and high agricultural potential.
Its immediate objectives are to remove the constraints to the improvement of agricultural productivity caused by lack or inadequacy of rural infrastructure, and to reduce rural poverty by increasing agricultural productivity and profitability.
While third is for Alangalang town where Mayor Loreto Yu recently received the amount of P1.5 million financial support from the province for their farm-to-market road project in Barangay Veteranos.
Yu said this farm-to-market road project will increase the town’s agricultural productivity and help decrease poverty incidence in the identified area.
