NBI says no evidence to link Aguilar’s guard to Ebarle slay
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Friday it will not investigate Marlene Aguilar’s British bodyguard, Mark Hauser, saying there was no evidence to link him in the fatal shooting of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr. during a road rage incident in Quezon City last Nov. 18.
Romulo Asis, executive officer of the Office of the Intelligence Services, said the investigation into Ebarle’s killing was over and the case against Jason Aguilar Ivler had already been filed in court.
In television interviews, Marlene Aguilar earlier insisted that her son Jason Ivler was innocent and she suspected that her son was set up by her own bodyguard.
Asis said there were pieces of evidence which were gathered by the NBI and the Philippine National Police (PNP) against Ivler. He added that there was an eyewitness who tagged Ivler as the gunman of Ebarle Jr.
“As far as the NBI is concerned the investigation is over. The Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office had already evaluated the evidence and the case is now already in court which issued the warrant of arrest against him. The NBI has already served the warrant and we are preparing for the trial against Ivler,” he said.
The NBI official also said there was no evidence linking Hauser to the death of Ebarle. Asis said he was wondering why Aguilar linked her bodyguard to the incident only now when the case has long been filed in court.
“She should have brought this matter during the preliminary investigation while the case was still at the Office of the Prosecutor. Why she never tell us she had knowledge about that. Why only now,” he said.
Aguilar said both her son and bodyguard are foreigners and both sport skinheads. She said her bodyguard disappeared three weeks ago. She said the bodyguard had access to the room, car, gun and keys of Ivler.
