Gibo: Let the people decide on Erap
Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard bearer Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. on Friday left the fate of former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada of the Puwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) to the electorate in winning the presidential race for the second chance after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) dismissed the three petitions to disqualify him to run again in this year’s May 10.
“Let the electorate decide on the matter, after all Filipinos deserve to have a larger pool of leaders in which to seek their next president,” Teodoro said.
Teodoro, 45, considered the youngest among the presidential candidates, is unfazed on the return of Estrada — who was ousted during a people power revolt in January, 2001 — to the political ring.
Estrada, now 72, has been claiming that “the presidency was stolen to me and I am just regaining it back.”
In promoting a “high level” political campaign in wooing voters, Teodoro has avoided engaging in political bickerings or mudslinging with the other presidential wannabees. Instead, the former defense chief would focus on his platform of government anchored on quality education for the youth, building modern infrastructure, promoting government service and minimizing graft through giving of incentives, improving the justice system, and preparing the country’s work force to face future global challenges.
Also, Teodoro said that he will promote a “healing presidency” in the event that he wins the election, adding that political vendetta and divisiveness are among the major obstacles that hinder the country to move forward to economic progress and stability.
