Veteran Filipino boxer Jimrex Jaca showed no signs of rust from a 15-month layoff by easily dismantling Ramadhan Weriu of Indonesia on Saturday in their 10-round lightweight battle as part of the undercard of Brian Viloria’s title-defense bout dubbed as “Collision Course” at the Astrodome in Pasay City.

Jaca unleashed a five-punch combination against the stocky Indonesian, finishing off with a stinging left hook that sent Weriu down the canvas with 2:58 left in the fifth round.

Earlier, Filipino lightweight Jason Pagara, another bright prospect for Philippine boxing, scored a majority decision over Eddy Camaro of Indonesia.

The 17-year old Pagara got the judges’ nod with scores of 96-94, 98-92, and 95-95 to jumpstart the Filipinos’ bid in Saturday’s boxing event.
