Army opens door for new soldiers
DAVAO CITY (PNA) — The Philippine Army is now accepting new applicants for commissioned officers and candidate soldiers to be enlisted into the regular force of the military.
Capt. Emmanuel Garcia, spokesperson of the 10th Infantry Division based in Camp Panacan here, said registration of applicants for the Philippine Army Aptitude Test and Battery (PAATB) in Davao and SOCSKSARGEN area is now going on at S.I.R., Bucana, Matina, Davao City. It runs from Jan. 18 until Jan. 27.
He said aspiring soldiers, who are not so lucky with their height, will now have a greater chance of serving the country through the military since the height limit of five feet and four inches for males; and five feet two inches for females is put to five feet flat for both genders to accommodate small but equally competent applicants.
“This is a good development since the height requirement is already waived,” he said.
Garcia said individuals aspiring to be officers through the Officer Candidate Course and the Officer Preparatory Course must have a Bachelors Degree in any four-year-course or higher, single and not more than 25 years old.
Applicants for candidate soldiers must have 72 units in college but high school graduates may be accepted provided they possess skills needed by the Army.
He said candidate soldiers must be single and must be 18-22 years old before April 1, 2010.
Garcia said all applicants must bring their birth certificates (National Statistics Office copy), Marriage Contract of parents, Transcript of Records and/or Diploma.
