ALAMINOS, Laguna – The Nacionalista Party candidate for mayor Lorenzo Zuniga Jr. expressed his disappointment over large percentage of unproductive lands that are not used to boost the economic development of the town.

Zuniga explained that hectares of lands in Alaminos are idle because of improper management and local governmen’s inability to find ways to generate income through private lands owned by people who are residing in abroad, but are supervised by their trustees.

“Rice shortage has become one of the major problems of the country, and these idle land could be used for agricultural purposes,” Zuniga said.

He also suggest that for Alaminos, infrastructure projects like farm-to-market roads and other projects must be prioritized by the local government.

Investors, both foreign and local, he said, may be tapped to put their money in projects that will provide jobs and boost agricultural productivity of the town

As an economist, Zuniga envisions Alaminos to be one of the competitive and productive towns in the country, thus alleviating poverty and providing residents with livelihood.
