Cosmetic surgeon Manny Calayan slammed speculations that his wife, Dr. Pie Calayan, suffered physical disfigurement due to excessive cosmetic surgeries.

“Never, never. Hindi talaga nagpapa-retoke si Doktora. Ang ginagamit lang niya ‘yung mga gamot niya… ‘yung mga surgeries, hindi. Takot talaga siya dun,” he told “Showbiz Central.”

He explained, though, that her disappearance was due to an illness called adrenal fatigue syndrome, a hormonal disorder caused by stress and improper diet.

“Totoo naman na nagsakit si Doktora ng tinatawag na adrenal fatigue syndrome. Ibig sabihin nun, bumigay ‘yung kanyang adrenal glands gawa nung diet niya. So pinagpapahinga ko muna siya. At the same time, habang wala ako dito [sa Los Angeles, California], siya ‘yung nagma-manage ng branch namin sa LA.”

In a separate phone interview, Dr. Pie Calayan herself said they went to the US because her disorder cannot be diagnosed in the country.

According to her, “70% of Americans have that condition, kasi ‘yung adrenal gland very small organ sa ibabaw ng kidneys, so apparently, hindi nila pinapansin.”

Dr. Pie has mixed emotions for those who insist on blanketing her personal woes with intrigue.

“Natatawa ako sa kanila at naaawa rin ako at the same time kasi baka sila ma-karma… sila naman ang magkaroon ng ganun [sakit]. Maramdaman nila ‘yung naramdaman ko, ‘di ba?” she said.

She also has a message for everyone who prayed for her—whatever kind of prayer that may be.

“Sa mga nag-alala, pinagdasal na gumaling na ako, salamat. Sa mga pinagdasal na matodas na ako, pasensya na lang kasi [nadugtungan pa ang buhay ko].”
