iPhone 3GS vs. HTC Hero vs. Nexus One

January 25, 2010, 2:11pm

Last week, we gave you the Nokia N900 and the Motorola Milestone (Droid), today we will show you which phone has better specifications with our three-way face-off.

(All units used in this story are owned by Rommel Feria, the iPhone 3GS and the HTC Hero are locally available. The Nexus One was ordered online and was delivered to his relative in New York. Full Nexus One review on page 6 -- editor)

Specs-wise, the Nexus One blows away the other smartphones out of the water. However, the Nexus One is the most recent of the three. Expect new models from HTC and Apple to be released soon.

The other important factor in comparing the three is the availability of applications. Both HTC Hero and Nexus One use the Android Market, with its rapidly growing 12,000 applications collection.

The iPhone 3GS has its iTunes App Store, boasting of more than 100,000 applications and still growing. Unfortunately, however, I have yet to access paid applications on the Android Market from the Nexus One.

On paper, the Nexus One reigns the smartphone match-up. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, the speficiation is just part of the overall experience of using the phone. (Rommel Feria)
