With the possible entry of three other teams and a number of players interested to join, the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) will stage its second draft this Wednesday in time for the start of the season-opening tournament on February 13.

The second draft will be held at the Old Spaghetti House of Robinson's (Pioneer branch) in Mandaluyong at 2 p.m. and are open for players, even ex-pros, who are not yet 26 years old.

“Some ex-pros who are not yet over the age limit are still allowed to play in the league,” said Commissioner Chino Trinidad.

Trinidad said that the five teams which selected players during the initial draft held last December will be asked to protect 12 players with those not selected being placed in the pool along with late applicants and ex-pros.

“With at least eight teams competing, we are certain we can give collegiate players the venue and time they needed to toughen themselves for the coming collegiate season,” said Trinidad.

Executive director Butch Maniego also said that a callback camp could be also held later this week if teams are still interested in adding more players. The league will soon reveal the participating teams once everything is finalized.

“After we hammer out the final details, then we are ready to reveal the eight teams competing in the league,” said Maniego.

All new applicants may send in their applications by fax at (632) 533-3556 or email their basic information to pbl2010draft@gmail.com.
