Rhian Ramos is prudent about love
Playing the role of Hannah for the upcoming GMA-7 TV series “Dear Friends Presents: Almost a Love Story” is a cinch for Rhian Ramos.
The sprightly 19-year-old admits she could “perfectly relate” to a 15-year-old falling for an older man.
“I’m a very romantic person in the sense that I believe in fate. That love could come between two people regardless of age. That love could happen regardless of race, of beliefs, of status.”
No, it hasn’t happened to Ramos but if ever, the young actress says she is already preparing herself.
“It pays to be ready. If it happens to me, I will surely fight for it. In fact, right now, I’m readying myself for that moment. If and when the time comes that somebody will come into my life, I am making sure he would feel how ready I am to go all out for our love.”
On “Dear Friends Presents: Almost a Love Story,” Ramos plays a young girl who fell in love with a 24-year-old man played by TJ Trinidad. The two eventually separate bowing to pressure from the young girl’s parents.
Meeting again, six years later, Ramos’ character—who is already engaged—will be made to choose between Rommel, her first love, and her loyal fiancé.
“It’s an endearing love story that will surely tickle hearts,” Ramos says.
Having worked with some of the more good-looking leading men in show business, Ramos admits there were a few times that she “almost fell” for them.
“Of course, it’s not all about the looks, it’s also about getting along well. Yes, there were moments…it happened. I won’t name names but it happened…a good thing is that I’m good at hiding my feelings.
“Like I said, I’m prepared whenever love or what I think, feels like love comes to me...I don’t jump in too hastily…because I just know that when I do, I will put everything at the back end and go all out for that love.”
Among all his leading men, Ramos feels she is more at home with her “Dear Friends Presents: Almost a Love Story” co-star, Trinidad.
“I have a special bond with all of my leading men including Richard [Gutierrez], Mark [Herras], and yeah, Dingdong [Dantes], too. But in all honesty, I feel super-comfortable with TJ. I know him from way back and we are quite close. We have so much in common that I would even go far to say, he’s like the male version of me.”
Is there a possibility that they’d fall for each other? Ramos was quick to shoot down the suggestion.
“No. Why mess with a really good friendship?”
When reminded of the alleged tiff she had with Marian Rivera over her “closeness” with Dantes, Ramos shrugs off insinuations that it could happen again with Trinidad.
“I know his girlfriend. I doubt if she’s the type who would get jealous of me. She knows the real score. It’s all work.”
Has she patched things up with Rivera?
“No. There’s nothing to fix in the first place. In fairness to Marian, she never made me feel like I have to defend myself from the accusations. I don’t think she believes them. It was all just blown out of proportion.”
