Well, that’s what friends are for.

Celebrity pals of Angelica Panganiban stood up for the actress against a rude Twitter user who sent her “below-the-belt” tweets, which then forced the “Rubi” lead star to close her own page, “@angelpanganiban,” earlier this week.

In a way, they also stood up for celebrities in general, as they are public figures who, while showered with fame, fortune, and fan bases, are more often than not subject to criticism and ridicule.

Tumingin muna tayo sa salamin bago humusga :(,” tweeted Angel Locsin on Jan. 25.

Teen actress Maxene Magalona stressed on her Jan. 26 tweets that “celebs are human too.”

“Sad [that] Angelica Panganiban deleted her Twitter. I totally understand her [though]. Some [people] here [on Twitter] are really just too rude. A [little] respect, [please]?? Some people forget that celebs are human too. How would THEY like it if they were bashed for no reason?!”

For Nikki Gil, “People who have no breeding and no manners should not have twitter accounts.”

Meanwhile, actress-mom Camille Prats tried to ease the tension with diplomacy.

“Twitter is a nice place to communicate with [people] we all don't know...” she said. “In twitterworld, there are no strangers. Lahat magkakaibigan. Panatilihin naman nating ganito ito. [It’s] supposed to be a happy place! :) Not a toxic one. :) swerte nga tayo guys at naimbento pa ito diba. Let's use it wisely and nicely naman.”

But spunky award-winning actress Alessandra de Rossi had a different tactic in mind, and that is, to fight back to “pretty girl,” even if that will run the risk of being “misunderstood.”

“I am willing to be misunderstood kung may mababago ako. And in this case, sana maturuan ko si pretty girl na MAHIYA SA SARILI NYA! yay!”

Similar with Angelica, Alex was also branded with “no breeding” by the hater, to which she blurted:

In the end, the outspoken actress said she just wanted to make a point.

“RAKENROOOOOOL!!!!! =) be good,” she said.

Due to the demand (and extreme re-tweeting efforts) of her fans to get Angelica back to the popular social networking site, the former child star created a new account, “@baklangRUBI,” on Jan. 26.

“nakakaiyak naman kayong lahat :) o sya! eto na ko. pero ako na pipili ng followers ko :) sabi ko na. nakakamiss ako :) love you!!!” she said in her first tweet.

The self-confessed “goddess in my own little ways” hater tweeted her twice, which Angelica RT-ed with a “go to hell bitch! :)” remark.

She lamented the seemingly incurable crab mentality existing among Filipinos.

“Kalungkot no?

In a recent interview, Angelica related that her hater previously criticized her weight, educational background, and her relationship with Derek Ramsay.

“So parang ako, sandali lang ha. Kaya wala siyang karapatang sabihin sa akin 'yon,” she said.

Albeit regretful of the account she lost---it had more than 35,000 followers---Angelica deemed it’s better to have done so.

The “Primetime Gem” said she will make her account private, but now has opted to keep it public as long as the haters are at a distance.

Fans have initiated a movement to have the hater removed from Twitter by encouraging others---celebrities included---to “report for spam.”

The said user has also sent “hate” messages to other local celeb Twitters, usually about their appearance.

As of this writing, some of the hater’s tweets to Angelica have been deleted.

Amidst all the detractors, the sexy actress unleashed her comic side to see the bright side through.

“Nakakainggit naman talaga magka-[Derek Ramsay]. Tsk tsk. Thank [you] LOOORRRDDD!!!”
