BI deports wanted American
An American national who is wanted by federal agents to stand trial for various crimes in the United States was deported recently by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
Deported last Monday aboard Philippine Airlines flight to Los Angeles, California was Jeffery Tye Brown, 49 years old.
BI-Deportation unit chief Antonio Rivera said Brown was kicked out pursuant to the deportation order issued last Jan. 15 by the Board of Commissioners chaired by Commissioner Marcelino Libanan.
In the same order, Brown was also placed under the blacklist and was banned from re-entering the Philippines.
He was arrested last Dec. 16 in Dumaguete City by operatives of the BI-Interpol unit on the strength of a mission order issued by Libanan.
According to Lawyer Floro Balato Jr., BI spokesman, Brown was already overstaying at the time of his arrest and is an undocumented alien as a result of the revocation of his passport by the US government.
Records showed that Libanan ordered Brown’s arrest at the request of the US embassy in Manila which informed the BI about the American’s record as a fugitive from justice.
