Ai Ai de las Alas

Comedienne Ai Ai de las Alas is psyching herself up to be objective when she sits as one of the judges in the forthcoming talent search show, “Pilipinas Got Talent.”

“Kasi minsan tao ka lang. Dumarating 'yong naaawa ka [sa mga contestants]…at mahirap mag-judge ng bata at saka sobrang matanda. Kasi unang-una diyan [ay baka] ma-trauma 'yong bata. 'Yong sobrang matandang-matanda, 'yong respeto [naman], tipong kawawa naman ‘tong si Tatang,” said she in an interview held Jan. 27.

However, Ai Ai said that between her and Kris Aquino, she is, surprisingly, more frank in passing out judgment on contestants.

“Parang mabait siya [Kris] dun. Ako, 'yong totoo lang ang sinasabi ko,” she said.

The Comedy Concert Queen has already seen some of those who auditioned from Cebu and she has nothing but praises for them.

“Marami talagang talented sa Cebu. Maraming singers. Tsaka 'yong mga kakaiba nilang talent, 'yong mga fire-eating, maraming talent sila sa ganun. Tapos 'yong mga tumatalon sa monobloc…” Ai Ai hinted.

She differentiated “Pilipinas Got Talent” from similar shows in other networks.

“'Yong show namin, franchise. Mga 86 countries ang meron nitong ‘Got Talent’ na ‘to. Kahit na anong talent pwede at walang age limit.”

The audition episode of “Pilipinas Got Talent” will air Feb. 14. Completing the triumvirate of the show’s panel of judges is ABS-CBN top honcho, Freddie Garcia. 

Aside from “Got Talent,” Ai Ai looks forward to working with Aga Muhlach in another ABS-CBN show. She said that the last time she and the handsome actor worked together was in an episode of the now-defunct “Okay Ka, Fairy Ko.”

She is also in the thick of preparations for her Valentine concert titled, “Ai Am Your Valentine.”

To be held at the Tent City of the Manila Hotel on Feb. 14, the comedienne promises a Valentine’s show that’s totally different from her other shows in the past. Her guests that night are Janno Gibbs, Rufa Mae Quinto, Mark Bautista, and Pilita Corrales.

According to her press release, Ai Ai remains kind and humble despite her successful career.

“Ang dami ko talagang dapat ipagpasalamat sa Diyos. Hindi Niya ako pinapabayaan. Kaya naman gusto ko ring i-share ang mga blessings ko sa ibang tao. Gusto kong maging masaya ang mga tao kapag napapanood nila ako dahil masarap ang pakiramdam kapag alam mong marami kang napapaligayang tao.”

Even her love life is doing great guns: Ai Ai is currently in courtship stage with a Greek athlete.
