QC deadline on Sunday for paying tax sans penalty
The Quezon City government reminded the public that Sunday, Jan. 31, is the last day of the extension period for settling their tax obligations without penalty.
The extension period was earlier set to give tax payers ample time to pay their obligations to avoid payment of penalties, surcharges and interests.
City Treasurer Dr. Victor Endriga, in his report to Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., said no more extension period would be granted for the payment of business taxes in the city following the first extension given, which was from Jan. 20 up to Jan. 31.
The original deadline for the payment of business taxes was on Jan. 20, but due to the long queues of tax payers trying to beat the deadline on such date, city officials, with the approval of the City Council, extended the deadline up to last day of January.
Endriga said Jan. 31, which will falls on a Sunday, will be the deadline for the payment of business taxes without penalty.
He said payment to be made on Feb. 1, Monday, will incur a surcharge of 25 percent and 2 percent monthly interest.
“Wala nang excuses na puwedeng gawin ang mga negosyante para hindi sila makabayad ng buwis dahil nakapagbigay na kami ng extension,” he said.
Endriga reported that the city had already collected a total of P1,993,700,587 as of Jan. 25 compared to P1,871,666,291 in 2009 for the same period, or an increase of P122,034,295.
