MMC imposes stern rules on junk shops
Junk shops operating in the metropolis now face stern regulations in managing their wastes after the Metro Manila Council (MMC) approved a resolution providing requirements and standards in the operation of junk shops.
MMDA Chairman Oscar Inocentes said that Metro Manila mayors agreed on the resolution after ironing out guidelines that conflict with existing ordinances on the regulation of junk shops in their jurisdiction.
The resolution provided minimum requirements and standards in the establishment and operation of junk shops operating throughout Metro Manila.
“It (resolution) will serve as basis to the LGUs (local government units). We should be thankful for this would serve as guidelines on how the operators should manage their business responsibly and would also ensure that junk shops do not pose any hazards to public health,” said Pasay City Mayor Wenceslao Trinidad.
