QBE Insurance (Philippines) Inc., a joint venture between the Alsons Corporation and Australian-based QBE Insurance Group, is training its eyes to be in the top ten insurance firms in the country in the next decade from top 20 today. QBE Philippines chairman Tomas I. Alcantara sets this target as the company celebrates its 10th anniversary of successful operation in the non-life insurance business in the country.

“It is this confidence from our customers that we are counting on in the years ahead, to bring us to being in the top ten within the next ten years,” Alcantara said in a speech at the company’s anniversary celebration on Friday.

Alcantara noted that from a start-up in 2000, the company has climbed up to the top 20 insurance firms to date.

The QBE Philippines team has a reputation for being a source of technical knowledge.

The company is a key provider of specialist insurance solutions in the Philippines market, and these are made available to business and professional clients through selected brokers.

The team has particular expertise in marine, professional risks, liability and commercial property and packaged insurance.

Alcantara noted that his father Conrado Alcantara, who formed the company’s insurance business, started a career as an insurance man.
